These are some of the turned wood RING boxes that I have recently completed. Used an assortment of woods and too
numerous to mention. I also turned some wooden rings to complement the boxes. Thanks for looking and happy holidays
to all.

Very nicely done. I too will be working on some trinket boxes this winter hopefully. Gathering some tools and materials to give a unique adventure a try. been wanting to do this for some time. It will be a first for me so will see if I can do it. It is a break from pen making. We all need that.

Hi Gregory,

No I do not use inserts when I make my wooden rings. Always use solid wood. The secret in making the rings strong is
to use thin strips of wood veneer inlaid in a groove and soaked with a liberal dose of CA. Take care.
Is the groove a metal or ceramic piece. What i ment by insert was ring core, i guess I miss stated what I thought.

I do not use cores (metal, ceramic), simply use hardwoods and cut a channel around the circumference of the wood. The channel (groove) matches the thickness of the contrasting veneer strip that I wrap through the groove and soaked with the veneer strip that mates within the groove of the ring. Makes the ring fairly strong & if the ring breaks then no big deal. Simply make another.
