Resource for Stabilizing

Can someone help me with stabilizing a piece of wood. Friend brought me a small piece of wood that is somewhat "punky". Put a piece on the lathe and it split real quick. Need someone who can stabilize it for me. Who offers this service?

If it's soft enough to split on the lathe, try soaking thin CA in from the outside. Put thin CA on it until it quits soaking it up, then let it dry. Before you insert the tube, you can add thin CA in the freshly drilled hole to stabilize the tube mounting.
