Well I just ordered a set of RSM from Charlie and I look forward to giving them a try. My question is has anyone done a chart for the amount of resin needed per pen per each mold??? If so can someone point me to it??? Or if you have charted ones that you use can you post your findings???

Thanks

John, John, John... in Charlie's post for the "Buy 3, Get 1 Free" he states
Most pens use about
one ounce of resin per casting. Sierras will use about 1/2 ounce each.
Tubes also need no sanding, so translucent resin won't show scratches
on the tubes.

Alrighty, that answers that. Actually that is about the same as I have been using they way I have been doing it. Not much savings there but the method will probably be the time saver though. Come on mailman:) Pour faster Charlie:biggrin:

I pore the sierra about 1-2 times a night probably over a 100 pores. I mix 5 onces and have just a little bit over. About the same with a Jr Gent. So it is about 4.5 OZ for the whole mold.

How to swirl colors?

Does anyone have a good method of swirling colors in the Resin Savers? There's not much room to work and I'm not sure the best way to do it to make sure that the swirls go all the way around the underside of the tube.

Any advice (and photos!) would be appreciated! Also, is this even a good use for the Resin Savers (other than single barrel applications) since the swirls might not line up between the two halves?

Thanks,
Greg

Now just a thought thinking out loud. Get a piece of string like kite string something fizzy like a pipe cleaner would be better(But that is too stiff). Anyway lay the string across the mold put your tube in the string is now under the tube you did paint your tube rite. Now mix your 2 or 3 colors of resin pore a little say 1/3 pore another 1/3 then again. Now take the string cross the ends over and pull it back and forth moving from one end to the other. That should mix and swirl the colors. When you are happy with the mix just pull the string out before it sets.

Then again just thinking out loud. Let us know if it works.
