I stabilized a piece of afzelia burl, and when i turned it down, it had pockets of resin. Had i thought to back paint the blank it might not be so bad. A couple of the little windows are fairly clear/solid and offer a view down to the brass tube. there are a couple on the surface that i might be able to pick out that are more opaque. I was planning on putting it on a gold kit, but i'm trying to decide if it's going to look intentional or like an accident, and if i should just abandon it. What would you do, or have you done?

A turner that taught me tricks had a saying. "If you can't hid it, highlight it!" I agree with others to fill it with stone, metal, or dyed bondo (the stuff body shops use). It takes colors well, sands easily, and holds finish well. I would use a bright color to accent the pen.
