resin gone bad?

I have some clear casting PR from Art Stuff that I've had for over 2 years. I went to do some clear casting today and the resin looks yellow. I don't remember it having such a yellow tint to it, so I didn't know if I've just had it too long? Will the clear stuff go yellow with time or will it cure clear? I wish I could remember from the last time I used it. I know that PR will yellow over time because it's not UV resistant, but I wouldn't think raw PR would go yellow sealed up in a jar, in a cardboard box on the bottom shelf of my workbench, lol. Anyone use this stuff and run into this?

Take a little bit and put it in a cup. Put some MEKP in it and see if it cures clear.....Doesn't cost but an ounce of resin and a little time!

I think the yellow may be just aging but I haven't had it sit around for 2 years before. Some have been lucky up to a year or so.

Give it a shot and see what you get!

it's age.. it will yellow over time, but faster if it isn't catalyzed.
I'm surprised it isn't getting thick .. or solid! But like Fred said, give
it a test. Can't hurt.. it usually has a shelf life of 6 months, but i've
had it longer and sometimes it is OK, sometimes not. (you don't know
how long THEY had it before they sent it to you)

I took Fred's advice and poured a bit of the resin into a plastic cup and mixed in some MEKP. It cured but it's a little cloudy. I suppose I could still use it with some pigment, but I wonder if it would dull the colors.

Never used plastic bags before for resin. I wonder if the cloudiness was some moisture in the bag.

Should be fine with colors. I sometimes use waxed paper cups and it turns the resin cloudy but the colors are not affected.

Again....give it a try. What's the worst that can happen?

WOW! I must have read what I wanted and not what was written! I do that some times....must have had plastic bag on the brain!
