Well I'm pouring resin - am I ever pouring resin!
I've read just about everything there is on pouring, mixing, etc, etc and I'm doing a pretty good job of making PR blanks. (If I say so myself.)

My question is: How do you get the d*** resin from the one gallon can to the itty bitty one ounce cup without getting resin all over the bench, the floor and everything else within 10 feet?

My question is... why are you using a one ounce cup!?!?!?
If you only need an ounce, use a bigger cup and just mark it where one ounce is...

I stole the idea from someone else on here - can't recall who it was. I don't even use the opening provided. I punch a whole on one corner of the can next to the spout (to pour) and two holes on the top of each corner opposite (three total holes) to let air in. When done, I cover all holes with blue painters tape and replace when I am done....

I will admit, those gallon cans can be heavy, so I thank god for big hands! I tilt mine horizontally, and pour slowly into a graduated mixing cup that holds around 10 ounces, but i only pour around 2 to 4 ounces at a time. I have been waiting for my wife to finish using the Tide laundry detergent jug that has the push button spout on it in hopes that I can use that as dispensing system for my resin. time will tell.

That's what I love about this forum. No matter what question you ask, someone's been there, done that and gotten the T-shirt.
Thanks kevrob

If you check with your local hardware store (or even a Big Box) they
have a pour spout meant for these gallon containers. It slips over the
threads and gives you about a 4" extension tube to pour with. You can
use that to transfer the contents to another container.

Something like these:

I use a pump type that replaces the cap. Just pump it out. Clean and no mess. I get mine from Tap Plastics.

I'm curious if there is any reason that you shouldn't use the Tide laundry detergent jug that has the push button
... I hate to ask, but my curiousity has gotten the best of me.

Because in about 3 days time the resin will eat up the mechanism on the push button and you'll have one hell of a mess to clean up, you ask how I know this.....a friend of mine did it:rolleyes::biggrin:

I just punch two holes in the plug after removing the cap. One at the edge to pour from and one 180* from that one for a vent. By doing it this way instead of punching the hole in the can itself is, it can be recapped. Just my method.
