I am new to casting. Bought the Silmar 41, MEKP, plastic cups, stir sticks, and a pressure pot.

I need to find molds, colors and pearls powders. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Any help would be appreciated!

Molds , there are several tutorials in the library on how to make them , Or you can buy them from a few of the members here in the classifieds .
Pigments and pearls , Pearl-X powders from Michaels , Or you can get Mica and Mica Pearls from www.Coastalscents.com . Cheaper then the Pearl-x powders and a very large variety of colors . One ounce of Mica powders lasts a long time .

Am I right in assuming you use make up as a pearl powder,or am I being totally thick:confused::confused::confused:

Mica powder is used for many applications, makeup being one of them. It's just that a makeup provider has the best price and color selection for us to use. You can also use nail polish to reverse paint your blanks and tubes. Just don't point any fingers my way if your wife catches you in her makeup cabinet.

Definitely make your own moulds. Just for teh experience. Here are mine. These took about a day to cure.

I have two pieces of advice from my experience:

1) When making what I called the mould positive, make sure the timber is a smooth as you can get it. Once you mould PR in it, you'll be alble to much better see the effect you've created if the side of the blank doesn't need smoothing.

B) Round the bottom of the moulds rather than leaving them square. This will save you at least 25% of your resin!

iii) If you have a bandsaw, don't bother making the single-shot moulds. Go for one wide enough to make 3 at a time. It makes it much easier to mix your swirls.

You're going to have a BALL! I just know it.
