gentle reminder:

the bubbasville penturners cordially invite all texas penturners and of course our neighboring penturners too (and even those turners who don't turn pens), to a special penturning demonstration by Don Ward (of wichita falls) on bullet casing and arrow shaft pens...

the event will be held at the Woodworks Supply store in bedford tx on sat april 15th starting at 930A
visit www.woodworkssupply.com for map and info ...

btw, it is requested that we use the parking on the back side of the store, as well as the neighboring hotel or restaurant parking space as required...

following don's demo, we will adjourn for a short lunch break, and then we will reconvene for the 2nd annual texas penturners get-together for some good ole fashioned "pen turnin learnin"...we will wrap it up by 5P...admittance fee will be something pen-worthy to share with the group...

for the penturning get-together, all turners are encouraged to:
(1) bring your tools, mandrels, bushings, kits, wood and questions
(2) bring some pens for "show and tell"
(3) bring something to share with the others such as a modification, pen design, new technique, new pen idea, finishing secrets, etc,
(4) bring a friend

we will have mini-lathes available to turn on, and access to a bandsaw and drill press, but you must bring all your tooling (drill bits, live centers, chucks, etc)...the lathes all have MT2 headstock & tailstock...

the 1st annual texas penturners get-together was held march 2005 at the ftw woodcraft, all had a great time...we hope to have alot more folks at this years event!!

we will need to have a basic idea of how many folks plan to attend (for seating, etc) so if you could plz send me an email with your plans of attending, that would help us out alot! plz email jeff.carrell@texaspenturners.com

we also have a website with the basic info on it - www.texaspenturners.com

--------------------------------------

i am also compiling an email list of texas penturners, if you'd like to be on the list, send me an email...this email list is used strictly for contacting texas penturners about get-togethers and special events...i don't give this list out for any commercial purposes...

--------------------------------------

on another note, at the annual SWAT Symposium being held fri sept 29 thru sun oct 1 in temple tx, there is a dedicated penturning demonstration track, in addition to the other six turning tracks...the penturning demonstrations have not been selected as of yet, but all the info concerning SWAT can be seen on the SWAT website - www.swaturners.com

this is the 2nd year we've had a dedicated penturning track, last year it was very well rec'd and attended!!

there are some conversations about possibly having another texas penturners get-together fri night sept 30...more info coming on this topic :)

--------------------------------------

if you have any questions or comments, plz contact jeff carrell at jeff.carrell@texaspenturners.com

we look forward to seeing as many as can make it to the 2nd annual texas penturners get-together!!!!!

Wish I could be there to meet some of the other Texas Penturners but I have to work that weekend. Maybe I will be off for the 3rd annual.

Debra,
Bedford TX is one of the cities in the Dallas FT Worth Metroplex...In the northern part just west of DFW International Airport. You are surely welcome to attend, but it is a far piece to drive.
Do a good turn daily!
Don
