I have always believed that Veteran's Day should be a more highly regarded national holiday. Of course or international colleagues in Europe celebrates it as Armistice Day and in Canada as Remembrance Day.

In honor of my father, PFC Leonard Lange, "Equal to the Task" - 81st Chemical Mortar Battalion, Dog Company, Omaha Beach, June 6, 1944. - Dave

Thank you all for your responses and sharing of military members in your family. Yesterday my wife and I sat at our table at our best restaurant, Shellies in Helena, then headed out to our cabin way up in the Rockies. It was a great day of reflection and, more importantly, I met and talked with two Scottish Pipers who were going to perform at the Memorial park just down the street. What a great way to celebrate those that served!
Thank you all again.

Thanks for all that have served. I have often reflected that a 'reunion' of my family members would include military in WWII would include: USA, German, Italian, English, Russian and Austrian (yes, I have a very blended ancestry!). I have POW relatives from the USA, and Russia. I have an Uncle who was a tail gunner on a B-17 and a POW in Germany. MY wife has an Uncle that was in Normandy (Injured and hospitalized in UK for 2 years) Another Uncle was a USA (German language) interpreter at the Dachou Trials. So basically, my relatives were all on opposing sides, but following the directives of their commanders. A family reunion would be ...'interesting.'
