I have an Epson printer that just eats ink. Has anyone tried the various remanufactured cartridges available? They are so inexpensive compared to OEM. I don't want to goof up my printer, but am considering trying some.

Any opinions?

I use the staples ones in my printer, but I don't use it for anything other then general printing duties. If I was doing photos or something that mattered, I'd stick with brand name.

As you probably know, I sell copiers and printers.

I use generics, most of the time they work, sometimes they don't.

I know this doesn't help much but it IS the answer.

Most sources will replace it if it doesn't work, but they will not pay to have your printer cleaned (that's all it takes).

IF we sell them, we will repair your printer if need be - see if you can find a local dealer with the same offer.

I have a Canon IP3000 printer and have used after market cartridges off Ebay almost for the total life of the printer (3+ years) without any ill effects.

In all that time I have had one cartridge that wouldn't work, seeing they cost me about $1.50 each I chucked it in the bin and used another one.

I usually buy 50 cartridges at a time (printer uses 1 black, 3 colour).

The other option you have is to buy a bulk ink system, these systems have big ink tanks that you refill and connect with tubes to a cartrdige in the printer, they really bring down printng costs.

I have used Staples as well as a no-name brand from a local store that only sells ink (their own) in my HP. I only do basic printing but have never had a problem.

I wish I could find off brand/refills for my printers. For some reason I always buy the printers with cartridges that can't be refilled. There is some chip in them that forbids refilling. I am so sick of going through ink (I found a new hobby that uses a lot of ink.) I have been half tempted to start buying cheap printers instead of ink, lol.

I got some aftermarket ones for my canon 6100. Worked great for about 4 pages then no blue ink. Clogged the printhead. Put a canon blue cartridge in and after several heavy cleanings it works about 50% of the time. Nobody around here carries the printheads so it looks like a new printer is in order. Hard part is finding one with separate colour ink tanks.

I refill my own cartridges and have never had any operational problems. It can be a messy operation, though, if you are not careful. I think that when my current ink supply is used up, I will probably migrate to the remanufactured cartridges.

I got tired of replacing ink cartridges so often , I bought myself laser printers . I have an HP1800 B/W laser for general printing that don't need color and a Samsung CLP610 for color . The page yield for both printers are 2000 pages . The toner is much more expensive but cost per page is still better then my Epson or Cannon ink jets .

I quit using cheap ink on my Epsons. I have had them ruin 2 printers. Stick with the OEM stuff. It is cheaper in the long run. Epson carts are generally cheaper than other brands out there that have the pen attached to the carts.
