Hi all ! I had a play with a friends new beal today ,we did some hex flats on about 4 blanks, not too difficult to manage between two newbies to this art hehe.My query is this ? can the gearing be reduced sufficiently to give say a 30 degree turn in the length of a blank ,seems able to do spirals no problem but less than 1 full turn seems a no no The reason I ask is I was looking to do a 30 degree twist on the hex sides ,rather than a quick spiral , looking at the gear set up with a compound train it is still too fast a turning action ,almost needs another compound train to reduce it enough to a twist rather than a spiral . Is my thinking wrong in this and not possible or how can I achieve this action ,any advice will be appreciated , I can do flats with a die grinder in my metal lathe hehe, twisting flats are something else again lol.
Cheers ! John
