Red Oak ---Firewood

This was saved from the fire---yup I was getting ready to toss the Red Oak in the wood burner last week when I noticed how much character it had. Dang thing tried to split in half three times on the lathe---the two holes are filled with real Jade. This is the first time I have used Jade as a filler----real hard stuff.

I have a red oak burl that I brought with me from Louisiana in 2004. I am still working up my nerve to try a natural edge bowl with it.

It look's good how hard is the jade.You did a good inlay how many pound's of 150 skew did it take to get the jade smooth.

Skew lasted about two seconds-----killed a carbide cutter in less than 10 seconds------then I went and got out the------------

I don't think i use any in these gator pen's maybe next time.

If you do----make sure it's ground very fine----I used small pieces---a air sander would not even come close to cutting the Jade.
