Red Oak Burl

Have any of you turned red oak burl?

I have a piece from a tree in our back yard and was wondering how it turned. The piece I have has a ton of swirls. Kind of looks like a bunch of tiny worms got stuck together while they were flipping around in circles (strange analogy, I know, but what can you do).

I was wondering if it would need to be stabilized or anything special done to it before I turned it.

Any advice is appreciated.

Oak burls are one of my best selling pens.
Keep the thin CA handy ----turn it at a high RPM and use very small cut.
