This was finished today as well, like I said it has been a good day.

The platter came from a Burl Cap with overall dimensions of 15.5" x 4" including the spurs.

Finished size is 15" x 2.5". The first attempt with the ring at the edge of the bowl. Sanded to 400 grit, then 0000 steel wool (with the lathe stopped) and sprayed with Satin Lacquer.

The Red is so much more spectacular than the brown ones I have previously done. IMHO.

That is one beautiful bowl Bob! Red Mallee is such a spectacular wood and on a larger piece such as your bowl the beauty is ever more evident.
