Recycled Plastic Molds

Does anyone know the recycling number that should not be used with the urethane casting material. I remember John U stating in a seminar that most are good to use, but there is one number that should not be. I have a box full on recycled containers and want to make sure to weed out the ones that should not be used.

#1, #2, and #5 are good. Avoid #6 !!! They will work for a little bit but they don't hold up and will eventually melt in the resin. Most containers for food, laundry and medicines are fine. #6 usually shows up on thin flimsy drinking cups or the Solo red and blue with white inside cups.

Thanks John. I have been using the red solo for mixing the resin with the Mica. I will be switching that practice.

If you're quick it might be ok, but if you let it sit to reach temp it can eat at the plastic cup. I've had the bottom fall out of #6 Solo cups with resin. I'm messy enough without adding that to the practice.
