Oh yeah...you want recycle code 1 (best!) or code 5. However, with paper cups you don't have to worry about any of that :wink:

Recycle grades are not based on thickness. Grade six will melt...whether thick or thin. Heed the warnings! :wink:

listen to them. i found out the hard way. cost me a pint of silmar 41, three doses of mica powder, one of wives pans, (hot water for de-bubbling) and lots of paper towels. be careful with those yogurt etc cups also. some of them are 6

Just began casting a couple of months ago and have been using some 10 oz Solo clear PETE cups with a #1 recycling code. I've had some that got soft and deformed at the bottom, nearly tipped over. At first I thought it was the hot water in my ultrasonic cleaner, but it only seems to do it with certain colors. Maybe it's a combination of both heat and color, I'm not sure. Has anyone had the same experience with the #5 cups?

I believe you. I want to cast bottle stoppers in "clear" plastic. I'll keep looking. Thanks all for the info.
