Has anybody here used polypropolene cups (recycle 5) cups in an ultrasonic cleaner with heat?

Do they melt? I have used "5"s before with no ultra sonic or heat and they worked fine. I'd just hate to "goo up" my new ultrasonic cleaner, but I am out of glass jars.

Thanks

Polypropylene melts at about 150 to 160 C, well over the boiling point of water. I use them all the time with no problem.

I use an ultra sonic cleaner for rebuilding my scuba regulators. I use the brown, plastic pill containers you get prescriptions in with small holes drilled in the side. Also, don't set metal on the bottom of the cleaner put it on a rack or in your cup

I use polypropylene beakers in my ultrasonic (with heat in the winter) and have not had any problems I have reused them 30-40 times each before I just get tired of nocking out the casting remains, and just pull new ones out, and continue on.

Update: Recycle 5 plastic containers made by rubbbermaid, tupperware, et al purchased from Wal-mart and "as seen on TV" work wonderfully. Rubbermaid even makes a little "yogurt" sized on that allows you to get 8 of them in the HF ($79) cleaner all at once.

These really make a big "multi-layer" pour much easier!

They work just fine. I use the crystal clear ones from wally world. Not the flimsy frosted or red ones the PR will eat through it. If it doesn't eat through it the ultra sonic wont effect it.

good luck
