Friends - I received an order over the weekend from FOB Kalsu. I will not divulge much info, even though the email came through non-secure channels. Can someone help me figure out what this part of the address means?

HHC 703 4 BCT 3ID

I'm fairly certain this is from an enlisted man as he "sirred" me to death in the email. I would however, like to know what branch of the service he is in and anything else this gobbledy-gook means. I would like to send more than a pen, but do not want to take a chance on breaching tradition.

HHC I believe stands for Higher Headquarters Company
BCT I'm not sure
3ID is 3rd Infantry Division I think

I think this is Army but I could be totally wrong about it all.

This may help you out Lou: http://www.warfoto.com/3rdsociety8.htm

Headquarters and Headquarters Company
703 - this is a battalion in the division support command, aviation I believe.
4th Brigade Combat Team
3d Infantry Division

This unit is Headquartered at Ft. Stewart, Georgia, near Savannah. I was in the ceremony that changed this unit from the 24th ID to the 3d ID.

Thank you all. The information will allow me to personalize a package for this soldier. And Bruce, thank you for the insight.
