Walmart has marked their eyeglass prices way down, The sign says $39.99 for a complete pair.
Of course by the time we both got exams (way overdue) the total for both of us was just over $200.00.
Most of the time it cost $700.00 to $800.00 for two pairs of glasses which gets hard on the wallet real fast.
If your needing glasses and have been putting it off you may want to check them out.
I ain't a big Wallyworld person but this sale sure helped us out.

Too bad that doesn't go for tri-focals! Going for my annual exam next week.......will be keeping these glasses for at least another year....just got them last year!

Know what you mean about prices......

Barney

We both have Bi-focals, which is what ran the cost up. It had been three years since we had exams or glasses.
There was a very cool side affect also. As you know I have been working on my weight and eating healthy. My eye sight is just a little bit better than last time.

Gary I need your secret. Ive been working on my weight, my eyes get worse and the weight gets bigger now I cant see what I am eating!!! Seriously I commend you on the ability to make the change I hope I am able to before I am forced to!!! Keep it up.

Gary, thanks for the notice. I have resorted tot he pearing over my glasse for the past few years. i had an exam and new glasses a couple of years ago and the doctor was at a threshold of prescribing bifocals or trying to split the difference in my near and far vision. my problem is I have great vision at arms length and closer but the far vision is getting worse and worse. I went with the compromise and could not be sorrier. My glasses now spend more time laying in the way of my mouse than they do on my head. I cannot use them at all for any close up work and they are not a lot better for seeing far away. I think this time I will have them just make glasses for seeing at a distance and keep the glasses off for up close stuff. the only thing good about my last visit was I sprung for a set of frames that shoudl last a lifetime. they are supposidly indestructable and so far I have not figured out a way around that.

I just went to Wallyworld for an eye exam last month... the Dr said my old glasses were too strong for my eyes... probably reason I had taken to driving without them.. I could see better with no glasses... but my arms were getting too short for close up... up until the past couple of years I could see the fuzz on a gnat's butt up close... now I can see the fuzz, but not the gnat's butt.... I went with a pair for distance for driving and watching TV.. surprised myself that I was not seeing the TV that well, and a second pair for reading... I had actually given up reading 'cause I couldn't see the print... no I can read again. I didn't buy my glasses at WW though, we have a place in Knoxville called Eyeglass World and I got both pair for $78.. and they were ready in 1 hour... WW was near same price, maybe a little more, but they send the prescription out to an outside lab and would have taken a week - 10 days to get them back.

The biggie for us is knowing that the eyes are healthy---getting the glasses is a bonus. Now if a few of you would buy some of my Crushed Stone I will be able to pay the CC bill when it shows up.
The weight lose part-----I could wear a T-shirt that says
I ain't mad--- just Hungery.
It's by far the hardest part----we call it "get that fork out of your mouth".
Most of us eat about 3 times the food per day that we need.

The eye doctors at Walmart as well as the eyes department are not part of Walmart except for renting the space. Usually the doctor and the sales department are totally independent of each other also. I went that route a couple of months ago and the doc exam was $80, and then check the eyes department and they were very expensive for glasses. I checked with others like eyemart, and ended up driving 50 miles to get glasses. Got two pair of bifocals, one clear, one tinted, with hard cases, all for about $150 in two hours. Walmart was going to run over $500 for the same thing and 10 day wait. Was well worth the trip. Glad to see Walmart is having a sale. Gary, glad you can see again.

At the local Walmart they had about a 100 frames marded down to $9.00
The eye exam was $65.00 each or $130.00.
Then we went next door and bought the glasses.

Heh Heh being Diabetic and on Medicare with a good supplement my Eye exams only cost me a 20.00 co-pay. I saw the TV adds for the 39.00 glasses, but I've worn progressives for the past 9 or 10 years, got tired of Tri Focals and Steps, it hurts like heck when you miss one. I had a prescription from my Ophthalmologist, and took that to Walmart about 7 or 8 months ago, the Eye doctor wanted nearly 400.00 for lenses and frames, and Walmart was only 175.00, with me being on my wifes vision coverage. I have to go to the Ophthalmologist again next week and I think I'm going to head to Walmart.
I guess there is some advantage to getting old, it beats getting dirt thrown into your face.

That's OK .. part of the deal is that you can buy FRAMES that will last a
lifetime .. they just won't carry the lenses that fit them past this year.
So .. you'll either need to spring for new frames or pay a special price to
have your new lenses ground to fit your old frames. You can be sure that
this price will be about the same as buying new frames.

All frames should be able to last a lifetime. But if they carry the lenses to
fit them, how would your optometrist be able to afford that new boat?

Ok, I am going to be nice and just say that I will keep on supporting local companies as long as I can, while the ones that are still here ,are here.

thanks,

That's why I started this---I knew someone else needed a bargain.
Hope you have as good of luck as we did.
I had no ideal how we where going to get glasses this year but I knew it had to happen.

Thanks for the info. The school seems to think my son should have his eyes checked. He has never complained about not being able to see and he reads all the time. But it is worth getting his eyes checked just in case.

Chuck, your gnat's butt obsession is a little disturbing!:tongue::biggrin:

Ha, I beat Wally Worlds price, including the Ophthalmologists exam and nice Flex frames with progressive Varilux lenses it came to 123.00 and change. I'm going to try and keep the CA off of these.
