Im sorry this is the best I can do, it's the right part, it's a chip almost 1 CM big, but I believe it's still stuck to the skin pretty well, its not all the way cracked, like half way, but the acrylic isn't clear now, it has a foggy look.
Also, check out my latest post about the snake skin pens, should I keep it flat or use this curve design? Thanks
that's a definite maybe! sometimes it will work, you will probably need some pretty good pressure to force goo into the crack. another possible option is to wick CA into the crack. I have heard from a friend that you can patch many cracks this way, not that it would ever have happened to me....uh-uh, nope, not me! I can usually "disappear" the crack and after polishing noone knows but me, 'er, them.....
my experience only (and there are MANY, BETTER casters here) once you separate from the underlying material, they're pretty much a goner...
So what your saying is slip CA into the crack and it should be good? It hasn't broken from the material yet. And the foggyness is caused because the 2 acrylics aren't attached, I believe. I hope it didn't detach! I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I turn it!
My last pen I made of this stuff I did by completely sanding the whole blank because my PR chipped so much on this one.
I personally would focus on proper turning before you delve into being creative, what type of tool are you using to turn your resin? I prefer a nice oval skew! I get great shavings and a smooth finish
I only use oval skews, but for the resin casts I turn at highest speed and just sand down the full blank with 50grit then move up to MM and polish! Worked wonders on the first 2 pens.
By the way, I CA'ed thec rack, snaded down, virtually invisable! Also able to cover with the clip
Will post finals! Thanks!
P.S. My PR kept chipping, so that's why i jsut spent the etra time sanding it down.
