Well, it's hard to believe that we are just past the one year anniversary of the Raleigh IAP Chapter. It's been a fun time meeting everyone and sharing techniques with each other.

The September meeting is scheduled for 9/20/12 at 6:30pm in the classroom of the WoodCraft store off Pleasant Valley Road in Raleigh, NC.
This is the meeting to be at if you are possibly able to make it. If you aren't able to attend, please provide me with some feedback on the items listed below as well as any you feel should be discussed.

Feel free to bring a friend. The meeting will be a chance for attendees to discuss tips, tricks and techniques with other turners.
Bring a few of your pens or other turnings to share with the group.

Member Discussion:
· Meeting frequency - is monthly working or is there another time frame that is best
· Chapter leadership - chapter president, vp, activities chairperson, etc...
· Meeting location -
· Shop activities -
· Member activities - pen exchanges, blank exchanges, etc...

As a point of interest, there will be a woodworking expo at the Klingspor Wood store off Capital Blvd. this coming Saturday 9/15/12 with a lot of great talent doing demos. Last year's activities included bowl turning, pepper mill creations, 3D scroll saw work, pen turning and other demonstrations. I believe it runs from 10am-3pm.

Also, for those that want to try a PITH (Pen In The Hat) the IAP website, IAP Home, has a sign up for a pen exchange - http://www.penturners.org/forum/f70/fall-2012-pith-sign-up-rules-100772/.
This is a chance to be paired with another pen maker that may possibly be in another country. Varying skill levels participate with the main emphasis is to have fun. This year it's an open theme, so you can make the pen style you want out of whatever material you would like. It also gives you a chance to see others work and start a collection or add to the one you have.

Thanks,
Kevin
