Has anyone used any of the raised panel and rail and stile router bits from HF. They are significantly less than the others out there. I know it is hit and miss with HF so I was looking for some feed back from anyone who has tried them.

Thanks,
Ryan

Before you buy them, check with MLCS. They sell a LOT of that type of thing, and their prices are good. I can't comment on the quality.

Ryan, I have a large set of router bits from HF and while they aren't bad, I get much better results with my MLCS bits. All of my large bits, including raised panel, are MLCS. You can't go wrong for the money. Sure, you could buy Amana or some other high end bit, but for occassional use MLCS is the way for me. It all depends on how often you plan on using it. If daily, go high end. JMO

Also ask yourself this question: Why is it so much less than others? Do I want to trust it spinning at 20,000rpm's?

I still do a fair amount of flat work and it has become obvious to me that you get what you pay for when it comes to router bits. I have some HF and MCLS and they have all been off-balance and scare the crap out of me to use, plus shake the rounter lift apart. I have replaced the ones I use the most with Frued or Rockler bits. I don't know who makes the Rockler bits but they have been good for me, especially for the money.

I use C M T raised panel sets. I have never had a problem with these. Try these people, they have good stuff and prices are very reasonable considering the quality of their tools. They are local for me and have always been fair if there was a problem. http://www.utterguys.com/ Hope this helps,
