Used the rainy day to get some snake blanks made. No vacuum. No pressure.
Just the ultrasonic cleaner and toater oven.
Do a good turn daily!

Thanks Jeff. They are a lot of work to make and lots of material lost when they go south. I'm not sure what I hate loosing most...the time or material.
Do a good turn daily!

They look great Don. It's a lot of work making snake skins. I have managed a 100% failure rate every time I tried! Think that's the wrong road for me. ;)

Material can be replaced

But then it takes more time to earn $$$ to replace the materials...my failure rate is quite low after 10+ years perfecting the process I use.

Looks like I need to find me a toater oven:biggrin:
That is some nice rainy day work.
Maybe some day I'll get there..........

Maybe change your signature to "please excuse my spelling, I use a Samsung epic and Forum Runner?"(Just playing, not serious.......)

Thanks.
Toater ovens are hard to find...they have been out of production for several years. But, I understand a toaster oven works just as well. I need to learn to "swipe" a little better and check the spelling before posting.

Tim: Thanks for the comments and kind words.

Seamus: Lots of things are going with age.....soon you will understand.

Fred: Your (now mine:biggrin:) molds are working great. Thanks.

Jeff: If and when you want to try again contact me and I will help out.

Leslie: I hope as the rain moved east you were the receipient of some of it.

Do a good turn daily!

Unfortunately I'm just perfect for Saturday....I still have my occassional "into the trash" session. But, casting is much better than before I started using your resin savers and Fred's molds. Both have helped tremendously.

Hey! We're in a two way tie with a perfect record!!

I just seem to have trouble with skins. There's always one bubble
somewhere.. some portion that I didn't look over quite carefully enough.
Or I use the wrong paint on the tube

Yes...the ultrasonic cleaner vibrates the water and in turn the resin inside the container it is in. The air in solution is released much the same way the gas in carbonated drinks is released if the drink is aggitated. The cleaner I use has a heat function which thins the resin allowing the air to more easily escape.

Don--

Do you use the sonic cleaner to force the bubbles out of suspension?
