Bought 1 gallon of Silmar 41 and want to split 1/2 of it with someone. Is it plausible to use a 1 qt castin craft can and clean it out somehow and fill it up? Or is there something else we can use? I don't know if a windshield wiper fluid bottle is high grade enough to not be eaten by PR. Any thoughts on how to approach?

Thanks in advance for any help.

A clean metal or HDPE container will hold polyester resin. A friend of mine in the fiberglass business dispenses it into empty milk jugs. He washes them out and then rinses with acetone to make sure all residual water is removed. I have a gallon of vinylester resin in a milk jug sitting in my garage right now.

Regards,
Eric

I thought about a gasoline container, but not sure how to find one so small. I figured if a container can hold gasoline it could hold resin. And the resin is measured by actual size in oz not weight right?

Yellow milk jugs work just fine, AND they have side handles making them extremely easy to pour without all the mess!

I prefer something that blocks UV as it is almost as bad as heat for PR.

The standard milk jugs will not leak, but you can still smell the fumes real strong. Look what it did to a Styrofoam cooler. Just the fumes did this to the cooler. I have COPD. You can imagine what I went through until I figured it out.

If you have COPD, why the heck are you working with something like PR? No offense intended.
