I use 5 min epoxy
I use 15 min myself, because overkill is simply a good starting point.
There has also been a lot of positive talk here about using oily glue as well.
A Test For All You Oily Glue Doubters
A quarter glued to the end of a dowel with oily glue. It got crazy hot but the glue held.

I scuff the aluminum up with sandpaper and then use the 5 minute epoxy, but I let it cure a full 24 hours before doing anything with it. I use the same procedure to glue on PVC card material, brass, etc. - Dave

If I am doing segmenting work I use System3 T88 epoxy glues. If I am adhering watch parts to a blank that has no stress and will be coated with epoxy resin I will use 15 min epoxy. Always wait a full 24 hours to dry and cure and it has not failed me yet.

Devcon Two Ton epoxy; 30 minute work time. I use it for lots of things. Fellow told me about it for building golf clubs.

One thing to keep in mind with epoxy is not to clamp the heck out of it. It needs to have a film of glue between the materials to hold and if clamped to tight the joint will be "dry", therefore weaker.

To add: I used 2 part epoxy and let set overnight also. When drilling (maybe just me), I have learned to go slow, keep the drill bit cool (water on a paper towel). If my epoxy got too hot at times it got soft and came apart.

This is true with any type adhesive. This is why have abit of tooth between surfaces gives the glue a place to settle in and actually gives more glue surface. It is a fine line we walk when gluing things in the shop.
