I was looking at an add for a used 6CFM Eliminator suction pump.
In the add it says
" Unit runs however it has oil in the exhaust"
Can someone tell me what this means and if it is of concern?
Thanks

A lot of the Harbor Freight models do that. Its the pump oil being expelled as a mist.
1- you will constantly have to monitor your pump oil level
2- you will risk breathing in the mist
3-You will have pump oil coating everything close to it
I would advise buying a better vacuum pump

So what it means is that the mist "exhaust" has oil in it. Right
I see.
I was reading it as the "exhaust" being a part on the pump not the exhaust being what was expelled. Just not reading it right.

Ok. The Harbor Freight pump I have does that but, I was thinking that the JB did not.
The pump I speak of, although used, is the one Curtis recommends and when new is over $300.00. This was supposed to be the better pump. It is used and they are asking $160.00.
Yea or ney?

Should I just get a new one?
My HF pump just does not pull the vacuum fast or strong enough. As far as the oil mist. I have a fan on it and it is on the porch so it does not seem to be a problem. I also where a mask when I an around it.
Thanks Alice

honestly I would buy a new one or wait for a better used one. I have one of the two stage robinair pumps and I have been using it for my casting since 1998. It is still used for casting twice weekly.

thanks for the input!
I think I might just break down and get a new one when I can afford it.
