For the past year I have been trying to learn how to turn on my own,
but I realize now I need help. Is there a turning club in either Longview or Lufkin ? I need a club that is willing to work with a total novice... I need to learn how to properly use my lathe tools and how to sharpen them. I have a Tru-Grind sharpening system that I would bring to the meeting.

I realize I am asking a lot but I need help.
Thank You
John

Heck John are there any IAP members near you? If you where in my neck of the woods I could get you up and running. I always have time to help another turner. Woodcraft stores have classes but I don't know if that helps you any.

John,
Herr is a link to the AAW page that lists all the existing clubs in Calif,
sorry I don't know where exactly Longview or Lufkin is closest to.
Hope this helps.

IN the link that JohnP posted, the closest one to you is Tyler. The next closest is Greenville.
