question on table saws

John,

I'm sure any local dealer would offer that option but there's not much to the assembly. Setup for accuracy and safety is the real key and unless the dealer checks that after delivery, I'd want to do it again. Besides you will need to know how to do this so you can re-check it periodically for safety reasons as well as optimal performance. And yes even used, I'd still want this to be my first step before plugging it in.

Forgive my candor, but safety is at issue here. If you are not capable of assembling a new piece of equipment, like a table saw, you should stay away from them. Granted, we all may need some extra muscle occasionally but the job isn't as complicated or dangerous as using one.

On the other side of the coin!!!

If you are not physically able to lift my table saw, you CAN still operate it safely!!!

I put mine together, alone. It was NO picnic. I doubt I will ever have to support the weight of it to run it safely.

To answer your question, my LOCAL Woodcraft owner volunteers to deliver and set up -- there is probably a charge for this, but to me it was more a matter of wanting to USE the saw that DAY, not later. I DID succeed, but I am still in pretty good shape. The saw weighed about 150 pounds, as I recall.

Let WoodCraft do it.

I realize I will need to learn how to check everything to make sure the saw is cutting properly... But that has nothing to do with wanting to buy a ts that is already put together, this is the way I would like to buy a ts.

I mean no disrespect to anyone... Ed4copies explained better than I could.

Thanks

Hit a nerve, John.

I wouldn't ask my dad to unbox and set up a saw, but I sure wouldn't deprive him of USING the saw. His cabinetry will still put many to shame.

I have a copy of the book "Jim Tolpin's Table Saw Magic" which has a section on setup, tuneup, jigs, safety, etc. If you'd like to have it, send me your address via email and I'll drop it in the mail to you. Maybe there's something in there you'll find useful.

I have a co-worker that has a practically brand new table saw in her basement that is already assembled. It is a Grizzly industrial cabinet saw. Runs on 220. She is looking to get rid of it. It has probably been used for a total of an hour. She bought it when she had a live in boyfriend and now he's gone and she wants the saw gone too. She lives near Columbus, Oh. If anyone is interested in this I can supply contact info.

Lol, a saw that big in a basement! Man, you'd almost have to PAY me to buy it if I had to move it!!

The newer Grizz table saws tend to get good reviews. If this is a good price (lol, and free "extraction" from current location) I'd give this one some serious thought-- if I were looking for a table saw.
