Question for the coffee bean casters

When you have cast and turned the coffee bean blanks do you apply some kind of finish like CA to seal the beans? Is it even necessary to do that?

I do apply a CA finish. The beans themselves are brittle and I think they would start pitting after a bit of use. They would also absorb oils, liquids and dirt if not sealed. Unfortunately, this also makes it so they don't smell like coffee, still trying to figure out how to keep the smell but seal the pen.

Thanks Jason. I'm trying this with bottle stopper blanks as I think it ill look good also in the bigger size. Takes a lot of beans though!

Newbie here.. Could someone point me in the right direction on how to cast these. My brother is a coffee lover and this would be a cool idea for him.

I would guess that you are not getting a full hermetic seal on them then!

Thanks everyone. Now if I could just get the blanks out of the pill bottles. I've tried most suggestions that resulted from my other posting and I am still struggling.

I would assume that I am getting a full seal when the beans are completely encapsulated in the alumilite, but I can still smell the coffee.
