I noticed in the S.O.Y.P. forum that you introduced a new pen blank and at the same time started a poll,the question is why did'nt you start a poll and let it go from there?? and I might add you folks make some mighty fine looking pen blanks etc.,Okay guys get your ropes I'll be waiting under the tree.

No, a poll has "given answers".

"Name it" solicits contributions from the members for their ideas, which will educate me.

Had I had names in MIND, I could have used the poll format, but I would not get any SMARTER that way.

Unnerstand???

Ed,I'm sorry but do not think every post is a poll,I feel like when you ask for a (name it) you were asking for a public survey of what you should name your pen blank,if I'm wrong then let's let it lay down and die,put your ropes up.
 
I think you're statements are absolutely correct.
But I guess I don't understand the thrust of your question.

Are you saying that once I ask for ideas, I should be silent thereafter?
 
Nope,I sure don't, I Just think you should have posted in the P.S.V.Section,that was the meaning of my post to begin with,and your first reply was (What Poll)
 
Well, Bill, I still don't see it as a poll, per se, simply because I did not use the "poll" format. But, if you want to call it a poll, feel free.

Additionally, some time ago, I believe there was some controversy over using polls as market research mechanisms. So, I reasoned, this was NOT market research as I am GOING to SELL it, no matter WHAT we call it. Instead I viewed this as an opportunity for the membership to be clever. And, based on the response, quite a few agreed.

Brace yourself, there will be more of this type of question in the future. WHERE it is positioned is immaterial to me. But, why not have penmakers contribute their thoughts on what to call a blank??

Well Ed,I guess we could bang heads and still not get any to come to a (who's right and who's wrong)conclusion so I will bid a farwell to this conversation And also good luck with your selling of pen blanks on the I.A.P. and anywhere else you market them.

Supposed to be but there are many here who think they are entitled to be part time moderators too!

When you have a question about something that you think is not allowed or in the wrong place, feel free to use the little yellow triangle and report the post. It will then be taken care of appropriately.
 
I think that maybe we should not do what we were thinking about and just do the other thing, or maybe just go in a completely different direction.

(Edit..After carefully reconsidering my stance on this, I am absolutely positive that I may be unsure about it.)

However, if ANYONE wants to ask me WHY I am doing something, I will be HAPPY to answer.

If anyone disagrees with me, they are just following my advice, as uttered often: Much of what I contribute here is MY OPINION --- I ENCOURAGE you to have YOUR OWN!!!!

Sometimes it is just better to ask a question using a PM.
 
PM replied to, and all is STILL FRIENDLY between Bill and me.

He asked a reasonable question and I tried to answer - no blood, no foul!!!
