could some on advise me on which lathe chuck is the best of these
1 Nova G3
2 Nova midi new updated (not sure what that means just what amazon says).
3 PSI Barracuda CSC2000C
I want one that will allow me to turn small bowls and boxes, I would like to get the one that has the best group of accessories available it only for a 10x14 but if I get another shop built I may want to put it on a bigger lathe,

Ken:

They are all good, but for starting out the PSI is the most economical. You can get the chuck plus three sets of jaws at a very good price. The other chucks only come with one set of jaws then you have to pay extra for the other sets.
I would recommend getting it on amazon they're usually cheaper than buying it from PSI direct. Also get a set of Cole jaws to go with the chuck, you'll need them to finish the bottom of the bowls.

Plated "special edition" Barracuda 2 with 5 jaw sets and more goodies AND a case on sale right now for $199.95 @ PSI - I'm getting one for myself asap.

Cheers!

The Baracuda 2 is what I use . It is a great deal and a good chuck . The Ti plated one is the best deal out there right now because of it comes with everything and a fitted case to keep it all together .

If you feel that there's a possibility that you might move to a larger lathe in the future I'd suggest the Nova G3. It's the only one of the 3 listed that will take inserts to fit all of the common thread sizes. The Nova Midi is directly threaded for 1" X 8TPI and won't work on any other lathe without an adapter. The PSI will work on 3/4" X 16 or 1" X 8 but no others without an adapter.

I have a pair of Nova Midis direct threaded for 1 X 8 that I still use on my Mini but they won't fit the 1 1/4 X 8 TPI thread on my Powermatic and I don't want to use an adapter becuase of the likelyhood of runout.

The CSC2000C is a mini chuck. You will probably want the CSC3000C and Amazon sold out of them and didn't even have them in their listing anymore as of yesterday.

I am wanting an Axminster myself, even if I have to order it from England.

There is only a fine difference in quality in what I read but the extra quality is something that some need or specifically want.

Russ Fairfield has some good insight the the following link, although it is a few years old:

I just bought the barracuda csc3000c(barracuda 2) from amazon before christmas.First chuck i have used and i love it. Bought a set of jumbo flat jaws for it for $25 with free shipping a few days later, also from amazon. Payed $169 with free shipping.Looks like $194 total. I saw the titanium one at amazon for 219 with free shipping so that is close. Does everything i can think of to try on it. Would buy it again today if i needed another one.
