Puzzle #3 is now open for your enjoyment (or frustration). :)

This one is a Wood Identification Contest. There are 8 pen blanks in the attached photo and I'm going to tell you what they are (in alphabetical order). Your task is to put these woods in order by blank number.

1. Send your list of the woods to iap.puzzles@gmail.com. Be sure to put Puzzle #3 in the Subject line of your message so I can keep track of which contest your entry is for
3. You will earn two points if you get all 8 correct or one point if you get at least 5 correct.
4. Everyone who gets at least 5 correct will be entered into the random draw for this individual puzzle.
5. This puzzle will close at noot CST on Monday, Feb 12.

Be sure to include your real name and user name in your message.

Banter is encouraged, but please do not post any real hints. Everyone needs to figure out the puzzles on their own.

Have fun and let me know if you have any questions.
Edgar

Note about the photo in this puzzle.

The photo was shot under fluorescent light with an iPhone. I cropped and resized the photo, but I did not apply any adjustments (brightness, color, contrast, etc) to the image itself.

Second Chance

So far, no one has been able to get as many as 5 correct, so here's what I'm going to do.

If you have already submitted an entry, you may submit a second one.

If you have not yet submitted an entry, you may also submit two entries.

Only one of your entries will count, but I will use the one with the most correct entries.

Well, did I get at least one right?

Puzzle #3 -- EXTENDED TIME

We have 25 players so far, but 9 of you have only submitted one guess.

I am going to extend Puzzle #3 until 10pm CST on Tuesday, Feb 13.

If you have only submitted one guess so far, go ahead and send a second entry.

I will also continue to accept entries from new players until the contest closes.

I am also going to alter the point awards for this game:

Everyone with 5 or more correct answers will earn 2 points.
Everyone with 3 or 4 correct answers will earn 1 point.

Everyone earning 1 or 2 points will be entered into the drawing for this puzzle.

I sent a second wild guess in this morning. I'll tell you this--I've looked closely at rough cut wood over the past few days (not sure I learned anything other than the importance of building trust in my providers!!). Great challenge!!

Puzzle #3 Answers

The answers to Puzzle #3 are revealed in the attached photo.

We had 26 players for this puzzle & most (but not all) submitted two guesses for a total of 46 entries.

I will double check everything before I announce the final results at the end of the games, but it appears that 8 people had 3 correct entries and 1 person had 4 correct entries. Those 9 people each earned 1 point and will be entered into the random drawing for this puzzle.

One person supplied 6 correct answers for 2 points and a shot at the individual prize for this puzzle. I'm not mentioning any names, but you know who you are, 1080Wayne. :)

Thanks for playing
Edgar
