I recently bought the V3u b/c my older phone crapped out on me and I was up for a free phone, so I went with the V3u since it could play mp3's.

The online rep told me which kit to buy for the widgets needed, but the pack actually was only a 1G chip. No software, nothing.

I have plenty of mini-usb cords that seem to connect the phone but I always get an error message on the phone that says "check your cord".

Is the real problem a lack of software, or could it be that the mini-usb's that I have won't work with the V3u?

Basically I'm trying to beat the phone company accessory demon here. I don't care to dump another $30 on stuff I don't need if I can work around it.

For what it's worth, don't put it in your back pocket and sit on it. [}:)];)

Lol Cav, that is the EXACT reason I have this phone. No, I didn't do it to my other phone, I did it to my mp3 player. Needed to update both, and thought this was the trick:( woulda been cheaper to buy the phone (free) and an Ipod Shuffle than this phone with all the friggin' accessories you have to buy.

My wife has that phone and here is how she does it.She has the micro SD card that comes with the adapter so it will fit in a regular SD card slot. She sticks it in the SD card slot on her laptop and loads it up.No cords,no mess.If you don't have a laptop with an SD card slot then you can get a card reader from Wal-Mart that plugs up to your USB port. The card reader is less than the little kit they sell you for the phone and works perfect.Oh and this way you get a card reader that reads almost any card you can think of,so it will have more uses than just for the phone.

I have heard this before but wasn't sure. So your wife does not use the software that you supposedly need?

Does she load in mp3 files or .wma files? Seems like I recall that the V3m only plays .wma files.

She just drags and drops her mp3's onto the card.I don't think she does any conversions, but I will check with her just to make sure.No she does'nt use any third party software.Windows recognizes the card as a disk drive and she just drags and drops.

I have a V3T and I needed to install the card into the phone for it to be formatted first. When you put the phone in the card reader it will have different folders to put files into, such as photos, ringtones, mp3's. I have also had good luck with the Motorola phone tools program, with it you can add your own ringtones, music files, videos and wallpapers. I can walk you through it if needed, just email me.
