Hi, all -
My wife really liked the blue dyed maple Gatsby I made recently, so I figured I'd try to do something for her. Found a nicely figured piece of maple, had a Trimline kit in the box, and some Keda dye to play with. Watched a video on YouTube with a recipe for "royal purple" (spoiler - didn't work), got to work. The recipe made a dark, muddled mess. Sanded a bit, mixed up some red just eyeballing it, applied, sanded a little, added a little more. Closer, but too pink. Applied some blue over the top. Looked purple. CA finish after that. Still have some optimizing to do on CA finishes, though improving. Happy with how the pen turned out, though.
Have two Gatsby kits left, then I'm going to need to restock…
Thanks for looking.
