I was nosing around on the Internet looking for information on PSI and ran across the following:

http://lists.nextmark.com/market?page=order/online/datacard&id=99221

This is a link to a company that is selling the PSI mailing list. That worried me a bit so I took a look a look at the PSI privacy policy and discovered the following:
(emphasis is mine)

Privacy Policy

Our privacy policy is designed to ensure your privacy. Our site does not automatically recognize your name, address, e-mail address or similar information. Personal information is recorded only if you place an order or information request. When you place an order or access your account information, we offer the use of a secure server that encrypts your information and ensures your privacy. When you order from us, you'll be added to our database to receive future postal and email mailings. For postal mailings, if you do not want your name rented or exchanged - please advise us by phone, fax, or email. We will not provide your email address or personal information to any other company for email or any other electronic transmission over the internet. If you do not want to receive our emails, please type "remove" in the subject line and send the email back to us. Payment Methods: We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Payment in US funds only.

Looks like they have the less than ideal "opt out" policy for handling your mailing address information. It appears that your email address is more protected; but the language is a little fuzzy and might not be as safe as one would prefer.

I would like to send a message directly to the owner of the company. Anyone out know his name and or address?? Have been unsuccessful, so far, in finding the information on the Internet.

That is more standard than most people know. Since I have my own domain name, I create a new email address to use for every vendor with whom I do business... and that way, I know *exactly* who sold my address. I'd say that 70% of the vendors do sell them.

This might help, Randy

Penn State Industries began in 1936, when Benjamin and Bernard Levy started a retail store in downtown Philadelphia. The company continued to grow and in 1944 become the first Philadelphia based wholesale company of its kind.

From 1950-1984 Penn State Industries focused on providing top-notch value, service and support in the wholesale business and garnered a loyal following as a trusted and reputable manufacturer.

In 1984, under the direction of Marvin and Ed Levy, Benjamin's sons, Penn State Industries expanded its operation into the Woodworking business through a mail order woodworking division. Marvin & Ed, avid woodworkers, realized that the needs of the beginner and intermediate woodworker weren't being met; the need for affordable, easy to use and quality woodworking products without the pretense and price of what was currently being offered in the woodworking marketplace.

wdcav1952Maybe it is just me, but I don't see any problem here.

It's just that they make such a point of keeping email information private that I assumed they would treat other information with equal care and that does not appear to be the case.
