So I have been testing a pair of PSI detachable key chains the last 1.5 months. My wife's plunger after 2 weeks fell apart and the little metal balls fell out too. So I called PSI and received a replacement plunger. Then today mine did the exact same thing. She reached in to get my keys and it just fell apart. I called PSI and they are sending me an entire new kit. I haven;t started to make any to sell yet and wondered if others have a high failure rate with the plunger? Not a good track record yet being 2 for 2 on kit failures. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I sold many of these and carried one for over a year. Always worked great, but that was before the trend to have things made in China. So, my experience MAY be useless in evaluating the product YOU are buying today.

As people tell you about their experience with different kits, it is VERY IMPORTANT to be certain you are still going to get it from the same manufacturing source---which we don't know, in most cases.

So, be confused, be very, very confused!!!

It's probably the little screw that hold the punger that get loose. I always remove the screw, put red locktite on and put it back. Never had that problem again after that.

I always got mine from Berea. It's just that sometime that little screw was not tightenned enough at the factory and with the rolling of the head, it get loose.

Just watch for the little spring, if you don't want to loose it. DAMHIKT

I made one for my mom a couple years ago and she hasn't had any problems with it. I did make her one of the quick release key chains for Christmas this past December because the length of the detachable one was too long and kept hitting the dashboard of the car. The quick release one broke last week. I haven't taken it apart yet, but I'm assuming that the nut that holds it together stripped out. Veered a little off topic there, but you have that much more info to go on now! :)

Alfred, where is the little screw located? Thanks for the info. I might have to try them from Bera next.

If you remove the "plunger part" from the keychain, and push on the plunger, you will see at the other end that there is a little screw that comes out of the plunger. Tighten this screw "not too hard because it will break" or like i said, use locktite. Solved all my problems.

I am not seeing a screw anywhere. Either it is super small, or this psi one doesn't have it.

Berea where the ones i had problem with. I don't think there is one better than the other ot that it is a "kit" defect. Just that the assembly is somtimes a little "neglected". Locktite might not be essential if you thignten this little bugger well but i prefer not take chances. I lost my keys once because of that little screw.

Take the part that remove from the keyrong, look inside the plunger it's there. Push on the plunger while holding it and it pups out.

Yeah, mine is way different from the berea one. Must be a better design for the one you have. Thanks for all the help.
