I just tried making 2 payments with PayPal and they will not let me copy and past the address in. When I copy and past as I always do it comes up invalid email. Now when I hand typed the address it worked fine. This happen twice on 2 separate payments.

Any body got an idea is PayPal having a problem, did they change something.

Just to make another point I did try to copy and past the same address to my mail and the link works just fine I can send an email.

Strange any ideas or is anyone else experiencing any problems.

Thanks
Bruce

One thought, make sure you aren't copying a space before or after the email address. Sometimes when you highlight to copy, you will copy one extra space.

and sometime when copying email addresses you can past only to find it says

mailto:russianwolf@gmail.com

if you don't remove the mailto: then your email won't work.

Mike, It caught my eye that you actually used the @ in that post. Makes me wonder how many crawlers will now pick that up and be sending spam mail to that non existant e-mail addresses for the next 5 years. He He. It did give me an idea for a war against spam. lets start a trend that you add an @ sign in place of every a. then add .com to the end of the word. sort of a cyber world pig latin. the the A is at the beginning or end of the word they are exempt.

With this idea Bruces post would look like.
I just tried making 2 p@yments.com with P@y.com P@l.com and they will not let me copy and p@st.com the address in. When I copy and p@st.com as I alw@ys.com do it comes up inv@lid.com email. Now when I h@nd.com typed the address it worked fine. This h@ppen.com twice on 2 sep@rate.com p@yments.com

Any body got an idea is P@y.com P@l.com having a problem, did they ch@nge.com something.

Just to m@ke.com another point I did try to copy and p@st.com the s@me.com address to my m@il.com and the link works just fine I c@n.com send an em@il.com

Str@nge.com any ideas or is anyone else experiencing any problems.

You mean that email about that burled penis enlargment device wasn't actually from Mike?

I just made a purchase from Nolan and copied and pasted his address to paypal and it worked fine. Maybe a gremlin thing.

Ya never know....

It's simple really, you whack yourself in the penis with the burled device and your penis swells up and enlarges. Effects are only temporary and you probably won't want to take advantage of the increased size while it's occuring, but it will work.

What's the deal with PayPal????? It was possible to talk to a representative about your account. I tried using my card twice to buy gas and it was rejected. I tried to find out WHY and wound up in India twice. Even when they tried to transfer me to GE the rep. still wound up being a foreigner.

I am bringing this back because I am still having the problem. I just tried to make a payment today and same thing I can't copy & paste. I did all the obvious no spaces before or after the address. When I type it by hand it works fine. And I have not noticed any other issues with my computer and I use corelDRAW and copy & paste all the time.

This has me baffled. I am guessing it is something in my computer maybe something that has a conflict that maybe PayPal has with a security thing ??? This is strange because the only problem I can find is copy & pasting to PayPal making a payment. It is a real PIA to have to hand type email address I go on a buying binge once in a wile. And it is easy to make a mistake when typing by hand.

I send PayPal a question just today so maybe I mite get some kind of answer next week. I can't believe I am the only one to experience this. I think I mite have to have a talk with the computer guy down the street. I'll bring him another computer pen if he can figure it out.

Any ideas from you computer guys. I don't think this is something simple. I know I need more memory I am running a little slow but this is just weird.

Thanks
Bruce

Had the same thing happen last week would not copy and pase but worked when I tried to pay for the CSUSA group buy last week.

You're not alone .. it happens a lot. It could be form the formatting of the different
websites and forums .. copying from one forum might work and another one might
not. Part of this seems to be the way the particular place handles email addresses.
Sometimes it will come out underlined, sometimes in hypertext, sometimes in italics..
and these unseen instructions are part of what you just copied and pasted. So
although it might look fine to your eye, to the program there is more than just an
email address there.. and so it isn't a valid address.

ok, I just made that up

Bruce, someone had the same problem trying to pay me a week or so ago, I've been too broke to buy any thing except metal and tooling, but I have noticed that sometimes when I copy and paste an email address into USPS clickNship is spaces it out , I have to put the cursor at the beginning of the address and backspace one or two times to get it to the begining of the box. I sure hope Pay@Pal.com doesnt mess things@upand.com it would be horrible@tryingto.com type

Bruce I just got a new computer and it has Vista on it. I am having the same problem. I try to copy and paste the address and it says error Enter a something address Not sure the something is. Well what I do and it works is Copy and paste the address back space the last letter in the address and retype it. Just the last letter like the m or t . Try that it works for me Rich H.

Bruce, I ran into the same problem last week paying Gerry for the group buy but when I typed his address in everything went fine. IIRC it's happened the last few times I've used PP.

You know I just tried that. It is not a fix but a LOT easier than typing the whole email. I copy & Paste the address than back spaced just the first letter and retyped it tat one letter and it worked. Why is this what is going on PayPal is the only one it happens to. It just started about 2 - 3 weeks ago. Something here or at PayPal changed.

I got an email in to PayPal but I will bet I will get the generic your doing something wrong answer. Then I will get someone on the phone and get this figured out.

Thanks for the tip. Typing 1 letter is a whole lot better than the whole email.

Bruce

Bruce,
I've had the same problem for my last 10 or so transactions over a couple of weeks. I figured out how to get around it easily. After pasting, I just delete the last letter of the email address and then type it back it manually.

Still a bother, but not too bad.

.

Not alone there. Ask Gary Max, as I tried to make a payment to him yesterday and I could not copy and paste his email address at all. He was kind enough to send me a billing and I was able to make the payment through paypal using that method.

Just reread the suggestion about typing last letter. I guess if you type the address it will accept it but will not accept copy and paste. Maybe this is a good thing for security purposes.

Yea but a night mare for us. I know that people that type in my address mess it up 50% of the time. A week will go by and no payment they think they paid but it goes to net-land some ware. My address is very easy to type if you are not very careful. On the other hand when making payments I go on a buying binge from time to time and typing in address is tedious and easy to screw up.

What we need to do now is BE SURE TO CONFIRM PAYMENT BOOTH WAYS.

I hope to get an answer from PayPal to find out what is going on. I also posted a thread on eBay about and they don't have a problem over there. But then again they do invoicing.

So I think either this site or PayPal Changed something.

I will let you guys know if I find out anything from PayPal.

Bruce

I just copied and pasted without a problem. Maybe the address your copying from has some hidden control character in there.
maybe PayPal is just upset with you. computers... they are suppose to make things easier and better right????

I've been having problems with PayPal as well. A few weeks ago they wouldn't even complete a transaction. It took 3 days to get it done. I also had problems doing the copy and paste for the CSUSA buy. Because I couldn't copy and paste I typed the email address in wrong. After fixing that they took money from the wrong account. My bank said that's not a first, so watch it. PayPal has become a real PITA. From now on I'll mail a check if I can.
