I'm looking for a 2 1/2 gal. paint/casting pressure pot, any suggestions? I'm looking at all the usual places, but I don't want to spend a fortune, if you know what I mean. I would like to have one that will support 80 psi.
Thanks!

The Harbor freight one's are on sale right now. $79.99 There is also a how to on modding it to work for casting in the Library. Going to go try this out this weekend and see it all goes.

If I'm going to use Alumilite what is the minimum psi out of a pressure pot that is needed?

I got a nice one off Craigslist with hoses and paint gun for $75. Was used twice for a job and than the guy didn't need it anymore. If you are patient (I looked for about 6 months) one will come along.

You only need about 40 lbs pressure to cast, I believe.

I ordered one last night from Harbor Freight. I used a 20% code that can be gotten with a quick google search and ended up paying around $70 with shipping!

The HF pressure pot is not rated for the 80 psi you noted. Don't buy it if that pressure is really needed.

Jake

Both of my HF pots are rated for 80psi. I use mine ~60ish all the time.

HF pots can be troublesome though. Make sure you are safe and do some reading! You can use them safely if you use common sense.....

Craigslist if you have time and patience. I watched it for months, almost a year, then a Binks came up, I bought it, the next day a Campbell Hausfeld was up for sale. Nothing for a year and I bough 2 in 2 days. One was $25, the other $35, both like new, and the Binks had an extra seal that came with it.

You don't need 60 PSI with Alumilite. All you need is 20 to 40 PSI.

Try casting some of the things that I do with 20-40 psi and you will change your position pretty quick! Amount of pressure depends on what you want to do. If all you are interested in doing is straight resin, then yes, 40 psi will work fine (40 is what Alumilite recommends, btw).

I ordered a pressure regulator for the Harbor Freight pressure pot. When it gets here I will set it up for 50psi. The one I got was from Amazon and is adjustable but they have one that is preset for the 50psi also.
