I'm new to casting and I have a question on pouring PR out of a Gal. can. I pour out of the gal. can that the PR come in and I find myself wasting a lot of Resin. I'm pouring the resin in to dixie cups for mixing and pouring into the mold. I use pvc pipe. I thought of pouring the resin into a plastic container that would eliminate most waste. Does anyone use something else to pour resin other than the gallon can? Thanks

Since you are in Alabama, you should be able to buy Mayfield milk. One reason that Mayfield is so much better and expensive than regular milk is that Mayfield uses a heavy, thick, yellow, UVA/UVB proof plastic container.

These yellow containers will keep you PR fresher than anything I have found, except prrhaps one of the new sealable plastic gas containers. Additionally, the Mayfield jug has a hole the same size top opening as the PR aluminun cans, but has a side handle making pouring from it much less messy and much more accurate.

The gas containers also work well, but here they are $12 at Family Dollar and about $16 at the big box home improvement and hardware stores.

I've had that problem with mine too and got tired of wasting resin. I got me a clear gallon "Wiper washer fluid" bottle and it works great. We throw away bottles away at work everyday but mine has worked well for months now with no problems.

I still use my one gallon can. Its been through around 15 gallons or so. I just pour it out of the corner of the top of the can while holding the cup. Then a go along the front of the can and scoop up any dribbles as they run down the can.

I pore straight from the metal can. You have to hold it upside down so the open cap is on the top when you pore. Have your cup on the side of a table and you can get good control. I don't lose a drop just clean up the cap opening when done. Now if you grab the handle and just pore with the opening down when it's full your going to have a mess no control and more important the air can't get in.
