So I've been pouring straight from the metal container the PR comes in and it's not very accurate. Do any of you relocate your PR to a more user friendly container? I like the look of the bottle Alumilite comes in, looks easier to pour.

I just used a nail to poke a hole in the top of the gallon PR container I bought. It works great for me and I've never made a mess at all...pouring from the can that is ;)

I've seen people pour into small plastic dixie type cups that have little lines on the side to measure with. Then mix in the color stuff, then pour into the molds.

I can pour from the gallon jugs into larger dixie cups OK, but I've also been known to transfer resin from the gallon jugs into old castin craft containers I've saved. It's easy to pour from those.

I've used milk jugs, gas cans and even sealable half gallon "lemonade containers" from Family Dollar.

Gas containers are perhaps the easiest because of the Government required "seal/pour" device. Milk jugs are the cheapest.

Milk jugs. Just wash them out and then rinse with a bit of acetone (to remove any residual water) before pouring in the resin.

That's a good idea. I've been popping the whole lid off so maybe just a nail hole will make things more manageable. I'm mostly worried about controlled pouring into the smaller cups for work up.

holy crap, really??! Do they last forever - multiple uses?
It's what the pros use. I have friends in the fiberglass business and they dispense polyester resin from 55gal drums into plastic milk bottles for easier pouring. In fact, I have a gallon of vinylester resin (similar to PR) in a milk jug right now. It's holding up just fine. I probably won't refill the container - I go through more milk than resin.

back in sculpture class - in college - we would store all our 2 part resins (for sand casting) in those kool aid containers. Or lemonade, whatever. used the same one for years and years. That was 6 years ago and they're still using it.

Thanks all for the idea of using the milk jug type of container for the PR. It sounds like a good idea and I am going to give it a try. I would have thought the PR would melt the plastic jug but since you people have used them, I will too.

I use a Clear gallon windshield washer jug. Any auto parts store has them or Wal-mart. Just wash it out well and allow time for it to dry overnight. Its been in there for over a month now and works great plus I can keep an eye on how much I have left. I could not stand pouring from the metal container. Made too much of a mess.

Figure it doesn't take all that long to empty a gallon of it anyway, just be sure to wipe to threads on the pour spout become putting the cap on for the night....it will be more difficult to remove the next time.

If I were to get five gallon buckets of the stuff, I'm sure I'd have to pour it into gallon jugs(wife ain't picking up no 5gallon bucket of resin to make her pours).
