Bartlesville, Oklahoma, USA.
We were notified at work that company is looking at moving my department. This is not a bad thing for us, but could be better. They will let us know for sure at the end of Jan.

So possible relocation places.

Bartlesville, OK which isn't to far from where I am now, but from what I hear they are lacking on housing.

Houston, TX which is a long ways away. If we move here I am looking at Katy, TX for a place to live, but don't know squat about anything there so I am lost.

As far as update on my surgery, I was put back into the hospital last Thursday for a few days, but they have not figured out what is wrong. I did go ahead and go back to work Monday and just kind of do what I can. Being how I stare at 6 computer screens for 12 hours poses a problem since on of the things I am have trouble with is my vision.

Dustin, lets think positive and the move will be for the best and your health improves. We are all pulling for you.

Hey Dustin,
Lots of guys here from Houston area... just put out the call and you'll get lots of info.. Katy is on west side of Houston, and from what I remember of Houston, a pretty nice area.. albeit kinda expensive. But in the area there are about 10 little communities that you will have to choose from.

Before we left the big H, the wife and I lived in the little H - Humble, but she worked on the west side at 290 and Sam Houston Parkway... I worked on the east side at I610 and I10 intersection... spent every day looking out of my office window at the Budweiser plant and about a mile from the ship-channel bridge.

Don't know anything about Bartlesville, but my mom lived there for about a year way back in the '70's. I think I visited there once.

Anyway, good luck on the transfer.

Houston is a great town but like all major metropolitan areas it has its problems. But it also has pro sports, great restaurants, theater and lots to do. The big move in population was to the west...toward Katy and beyond. Traffic to Houston from Katy is abominable. Grid lock all day coming in and going home. I would suggest moving another direction. I am 45 miles north and it ain't good either.

Another thing good for you, Houston has great hospitals and medical fascilities. They will find what is wrong and fix it.

Good luck wherever and take care of your health.

George

I spent a lot of time in Baytown and New Caney. New Caney was a great little town just north of houston on highway 59. I don't know the housing prices, but Houston area had realestate prices that were one third of the prices of here. I liked the area on the east side on beltway 8. Just a thought.

It Depends

It depends on where your job is on where I would recommend to live. If you live in Katy, and you work downtown, you're looking at around an hour drive in to work minimum on I-10, and about 45 minutes if you take the toll road. I am assuming you work for Conoco with the Bartlesville (or is that Phillips) reference? The Conoco HQ location off of Dairy Ashford isn't too far from Katy.

Regardless, welcome to Houston. The Medical Center is world famous, so as said in the previous post they can cure what ails you. Welcome to Texas!

Michael, spent 20 plus years working on x-ray related equipment and a lot of time in the hospital community in and around Houston. You couldn't ask for a better area for medical help. They have everything a person would need and great doctors. Best of luck in the transfer and with your health.

Hey Dustin,

Good to see your still getting er' done. I don't know about moving to Texas. I think I'd rather move to Stillwater than to Texas. I can't believe I just said that, ok, I'm kidding. You can't move until you get to the next Oklahoma get together.

Have you done any pen turning since the surgery?

I hope you continue to improve after your surgery, we're still praying for you.
