Today one of my son's friends decided life was too hard and went out and lay down across the train tracks.

I can't imagine what her family is going through but I'm sure they and all the girl's friends could use some of the famous IAP positive energy. I know my son could. :frown:

Rest in Peace, Evelyn!

Very sad Greg.. I to have had friends who took their own lives as well as others who have been murdered and it never gets any easier. I am sorry to hear about this loss and my condolences to your son and Evelyn's family.

R.I.P Evelyn..

We beseech Thee, O Lord,
in Thy mercy,
to have pity on the soul of Thy handmaid;
do Thou, Who hast freed her
from the perils of this mortal life,
restore to her the portion of everlasting salvation.
Through Christ our Lord,

Amen.

I understand it Greg, and I don't. My mother has depression. She takes meds, see's psychiatrist's and all that. She has tried to end her life several times. But she never takes it far enough to actually do so...like it's a cry for help rather than an actual suicide attempt perhaps. I have no idea how these things come to be and no idea how to deal with it. I'm not asking for help to deal with it either, I'm just saying it seems like a never win situation. I hate to be honest in this particular case, but I feel like I don't want her to do something stupid and I do want her to at the same time. That is how bad it is. So I have no advice for you. I do wish the family of this person all the best in the future.

That is very sad indeed, I can understand the thoughts that were in her head, I am on tablets for depression, meet regularly with my phsyciatrist and also self harm as a coping mechanism. Luckily I was sectioned under the mental health act and put into a secure environment before I could take my own life when I was really at my lowest.

It is a terrible loss to everyone who knew and loved her, my prayers to all effected by this!

Your family and Evelyn's family sure have my sympathy. When people are really depressed, it's hard for them to see any other way out and teenagers in particular, developmentally, often don't understand the true permanence of such a solution. I hope your son's school is offering support and counseling, as needed, to the students. And of course, if there's anything you need from any of us here, don't hesitate to ask.

So very sad. My prayers are with all. I hope your son finds someone that he can talk to about all his thoughts. a situation like this is not only painful but it is extremely confusing and even more so for the young. and I don't mean youthful young, I mean those that are not yet in the phase of life that death has begun to effect it and even become expected.
