Hello
This post is geared mostly to those who live in the Tidewater/Hampton Roads area. Every year the City of Poquoson, VA holds their Seafood Festival. It's a big deal and drawers lost of people. There is lots of places selling all kinds of food but mostly seafood. Evelyn and I went this past Friday. We had a seafood platter that had a little bit of very thing all of which was fried. It was not very good and was for the most part tasteless. I thought is might have been our taste in food as we are picky. We have had great fish from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area to Palm Springs, CA. And I have eaten seafood and fish all over the world but none as bad as what we had on Friday. But in talking to some of my co workers they had the same feeling about the food but not just the seafood. So I'm wondering if anyone else who may have gone to the festival had the same experience.

When we were living in the Hampton Roads area (Newport News the Gloucester), we found very few restaurants we went back to a second time... We're from New Orleans, we're pretty spoiled food-wise. We went to 1 place that had boiled crawfish and I'm not sure they put anything in the water at all.

BTW - our first festival was the Guinea Jubilee. I still don't think we understood a word that was said to us.

One thing you have to realize that this area is a mixing pot. A lot of military comes in and retires and stays. There are not very many "from here". The resturaunts want to appeal to as many people as possible. Rob think about this how many people like the spicy food that you probably do? Being from Upstate NY one of my favorite foods is those salt potatoes we used to have up there. I have not met anyone around here that has even heard of them. The times I made them no one else liked them, so doing potatoes it's mostly bland.

Go to Farm Fresh and ask them to steam some crab legs, you almost have to ask them to put old bay on...

Also Dan the weather has been crappy lately here, could have been they could not do their normal way of cooking. . .
