These are some of our blanks my wife made using the canes I made.

Finishing the Polymer Clay Blank (My Way)
The blanks are made a little proud and I use a carbide tool (light touch) to smooth them out and taper them to the bushings, you can wet sand using your choice of sandpaper. I start at 400 and go to 1000 then apply my choice of finish using some Delrin bushings. I use CA Glue of which I apply 4 or more coats then repeat the sanding process to smooth it out again but this time I go through all the Micro-Mesh range. I use a Meguiars Polish to finish it. There are many videos that you can look up showing various ways. These instructions are written for what works for me. I'm sure you can find other people who will give you other methods for finishing but this is what works for me.
