About a year ago I found a small log of some kind of spalted wood (think it may be cottonwood but not sure) and now it is dry but too soft to make pens out of. I decided to try stabalizing the wood with poly and for the most part it turned out ok but it was a little gumpy and tended to blacken easily. Is this normal with polyurethane stabilized woods? I was also wondering if some kind of resin would be better and if so what kind.
Thanks for the help:biggrin:
