In another thread, a few of you have mentioned "cans" of plum tomatoes. LOML and I were introduced to home grown plum tomatoes last season (sooooooo flavorful) but I didn't know they came in cans too. What is the brand, can someone tell me?

Pretty much everyone has a version of the plum tomatoes. I try to look for imported italian if I'm doing a pasta sauce.

If you really want a great grown tomato, look for Olpalka seeds. It's a Polish paste tomato that is amazing.

If you really want a flavorful canned tomato, look for a fire roasted tomato.. our local brand is Glen Eden, don't know if that's in CA, but the 'maters are really tasty... 'course my wife (who is from polish ancestry) mostly cooks Mexican style meals... I think we were both Mexican in past lives...

Chuck,

You reminded me of my favorite Mexican restaurant back home in Louisiana.

It was run by a Puerto Rican who was married to a Polish man. (My wife is Polish; want to swap jokes?!?!?)

DeLallo and Cento are two brand that are in the States but Pastene is the brans we use at home and we love it. You will also find them under the name Roma tomatoes
