Has anyone ever tried casting with plexitone? I know it would take along time to cure but just curious if anyone has tried?

when you mix up a batch of plexitone, perhaps 2/3 to 3/4 of the volume
is acetone (depending on your mix) To 'cure' this acetone must evaporate.
For a thin surface coat, this is fine. But if you pour a blank, the evaporation
will shrink the blank. I suppose if you wanted to cast in 1/16" increments
you might get a blank out of it, but it would be expensive, time consuming
and unsatisfying.

Well said Charlie!

Not to mention I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that blank as it hardens and all that Acetone evaporates.......Yuk!!:doctor:

I am afraid that if you ever got it to cure, it would be too brittle to drill or lathe.

When the acetone evaporates you are back to just plexiglass. Ever tried to cut plexiglass on a lathe? Don't! It is dangerous.
