Friends,
Not too long ago, LOML thought that I was an idiot for rescuing the odd bit of wood from the firewood pile.
Recently, she has taken to chuckling tolerably when I state my intention to "confiscate" certain chunks for turning, vice burning.
Even more heartening, lately when she comes across a particularly gnarled and twisted piece, she sets it aside and asks if I want it for my "special pile of junk wood."
But today, my friends, she blew me away. She saved a piece from a firey demise and gave it to me when I got home. What's really touching is not that she saved me some wood to play with (touching enough in its own right), but rather she looked at me in that special way that women look at the men they love and told me that it reminded her of me....
And so, with a song in my heart and a tear in my eye, I ask you, my learned collegues to help me ID this timber because I can't quite figure out what it is that turns her everlovin' mind to me when she looks at it....
Anybody?
