I have seen plastic polishes offered at different sites, is it a good product? Will I see a measurable improvement after micro mesh and white diamond buffing?

I use either Maguiars automotive polish or Hut Plastic polish. I have found I get the best results if I perform the following (in this order): micromesh through 12K, buffing wheel, apply polish. Lately, I have been using Maguiars more often than Hut.

This cannot be answered unless we know what you plan to use to measure.

The human eye? Or a 100 power microscope? Or something in-between?

Just bought my first bottle of Maguires PlastX today. have been using Hut UltraGloss up until now. Anybody want a half full bottle of Hut UltraGloss, Free.

You're right...I guess I should have used the word noticeable instead.

Since I have always been finish challenged, I'll try the stuff...probably wouldn't hurt anything.

Just curious here..
If you are getting a better gloss with the PlastX than with the Ultra Gloss,
then it is possible that you were jumping up to the Ultra Gloss too soon.
Ultra Gloss is a finer particle size than the PlastX, so if it is used at the
appropriate time and used correctly, it should give a finer gloss than the
PlastX.

Of course, this is all happening at such a small scale that we can't really see
it with our eyes, but this might be the equivalent of thinking that 200 grit
sandpaper gives a better finish than 1000 grit sandpaper.

Well, it will .. if you just finished sanding with 100 grit!

You might try the Ultra Gloss one more time .. right after the PlastX
and see if it makes a difference to you. At that level though, we're talking
about very fine particles. Without my glasses I can't tell the difference..
but with them I think I can

I recently stumbled onto a great final finish for acrylic: after going through to 12MM, I close with a rub of Maas Metal Polish. It not only has a small enough grit to do a good job of polishing the acrylic, but it also cleans and reseals the metal of my bushings. I can tell by the amount of residue coming off to the polish cloths.
