I was finally able to release them. The tempuature hasn't made it over 55 today and it's been dreary.
I was told by my significant other, that these look better than the photos.
I hope the recipient agrees.

Wow beautiful! Is this the castin craft resin? I want to try it but I will be getting a pressure pot set up this pay day so I can use the rest of that alumilite that I have. So come Wednesday I'm going to our new HF store to pick up the pot. Maybe if I have enough, I will get the air thing too. Fay

Interesting. So you are calling a pen blank a 'core'. This would be highly confusing with terms like the apple core, the core of the earth and the like. What's even more confusing is the body material gets cored with a drill bit then shaved round and inside the hollow core you put the pen kit.

Perhaps you prefer pen cylinder?

When you core an apple what shape is it?
Have you seen a geologist core the earth? What shape is it?
What shape is the core of a tree?

After a core is drilled, it is a tube or hollow cylinder.
What it becomes, makes no difference in what it is at the beginning.

I apologize for confusing you.
I just won't call them anything.

Beautiful castings Dan!! I LOVE the colors!!!! You do know that once you have been bitten by the casting bug, there is no cure right?

Oh and FWIW, I think that considering your avatar, calling your castings cores is particularly apropos. :)

Core is better than stick

I noticed that the pen designer that sold a design to PSI, Broadwell, calls us all "stick drillers", so either core or blank is better that "stick".

I am not sure why some of the threads I read are critical rather than helpful. I do not post as much as when I first came because of this. I abhor confrontation but have learned to use the "ignore" function, so that I can read threads. Good job H20, I would be proud to have any of your cores.

Those look great!

I don't have a problem calling them pen cores. I have a wall core sitting on my desk at work. It's about 3"x12" with some rebar running through it.
